Textile, cloth, or fabrics are similar names for manufactured materials. They are mostly made by weaving or knitting fabrics together. It is mostly used to manufactures clothing or cover furniture.

Sometimes spindle textile has a hook at either end of the spike. It is used for spinning wool and other fibers into threads. Spindles or its parts have been found in very old archaeological sites; they may represent one of the earliest pieces of technology which is available to humankind.

Bias (textile) facts for kids:

The "bias-cut" is a technique used by dress designers, tailors and dress-makers for cutting cloth. The bias textile is basically is a piece of woven fabric. It is at 45 degrees to its weft and warp threads. Every piece of woven fabric has its two biases, at right angles to each other. Fabrics which are not woven, do not have a bias.

When you cut on the bias textile, woven fabric is so much elastic and more fluid in movement, compared to the on-grain direction. This helps so many different types or kinds of garment, such as dresses, skirts, and neckties.

The greater stretch in the bias like diagonal direction of the fabric helps it accentuate body lines shapes and curves and drape beautifully softly. For example, a complete-skirted dress cut on the bias will hang very much gracefully or a narrow dress will cling to the figure after wearing.
